Over the last few days there have been a lot of articles about how the UK tech scene will be affected by the Brexit vote.
- Germany is apparently trying to lure companies away from London.
- 'UK start-ups mull uncertain future'
- 'Tech leaders try to paint bright Brexit future'
But the truth is, no one knows yet. The UK needs a new Prime Minister first, and then, and only then, can proper EU exit negotiations begin. The results of those will in turn tell us the future of the UK tech scene.
Anything proposed now is a complete guess and should be treated as such.
One thing is for sure - and I speak as both a tech industry bod and someone with deep connections to UK politics - that tech is considered a core part of the future of the UK economy. For a new Government to ignore it or even decide it isn't needed anymore is just now feasible.
The ride will be bumpy, but I cannot see anyway that Britain's tech industry won't continue to thrive in the medium to long term.
